Read moreWRc are proud to announce that our two entries for this year’s Water Industry Awards have been shortlisted as finalists in their respective categories.
The Water Industry Awards serve as a platform for recognising exceptional projects and individuals in the water sector across 23 categories. The awards are judged by a panel of twenty independent water industry experts, ensuring that the winners represent the best and brightest in the industry. This year, the 17th annual awards ceremony is set to take place on the 29th of June at The Vox Conference Centre in Birmingham.
WRc’s Justine Leadbetter has been shortlisted for the Rising Star Award. This prestigious award recognises relative newcomers to the water industry who have made a significant impact by going beyond the requirements of their role. Justine joined the water industry 4 years ago as a Graduate Scientist at WRc, and has quickly progressed and excelled in her role; she has used her data science skills to bring new techniques and methods to her team and has taken on a range of projects with both UK-based and International clients. In March 2022, Justine became Senior Consultant, leading the Leakage and Water Resources team at WRc.
The second shortlisted entry is for WRc’s project on “Understanding Discoloured Water Using Data-Driven Analytics” led by Jo Hulance, Mark Kowalski, Fiona Thompson and colleagues. Its category, Drinking Water Initiative of the Year award, recognises the leading technical, process or management innovation designed to solve water quality and treatment challenges. The project uses new techniques for statistical analysis and machine learning modelling to proactively identify reasons for persistent water discolouration events to improve water quality for consumers. The nomination is a testament to WRc’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the water industry, made possible by our dedicated and talented teams.
WRc has previously won the 2021 Water Industry Award for Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Improvement for the Fine to Flush scheme. We were also shortlisted for the 'Wastewater Innovation Project of the Year' category for our CSO solution in both 2021 and 2022. Our teams are excited to be part of this year's Water Industry Awards and to hear more about the range of exceptional projects and individuals being showcased; we wish the very best of luck to all the finalists.
We would also like to congratulate the nominees from the wider RSK group:
