The challenge

The water industry faces a whole host of challenges over the next few decades, ranging from:

  • climate change impacting on the quality and resilience of resources;
  • decreasing customer acceptability, affordability and appreciation for the value of water;
  • ageing assets needing replacing or renovation more frequently than currently planned; and
  • an ageing workforce with a decreasing pool of young people studying STEM subjects.

At WRc, we have a long history of solving problems through innovation and collaboration. We firmly believe that the current problems require solutions that will stand the test of time and therefore must be built on solid scientific and engineering knowledge.

Our mission to share knowledge

WRc has accumulated an unrivalled legacy of over 95 years of water sector and environmental knowledge. How do we ensure that this knowledge is shared with those people who want (and need) to know for AMP7 and beyond?

Our answer is to offer training modules and mentoring on subjects that are very relevant to the existing water and wastewater community of today, as they are to all new entrants joining this exciting world of water. Our mission is to build greater expertise and capability within the water sector through knowledge sharing.

Environment Training

WRc provides integrated catchment management services for the managed water cycle, enabling environmental objectives to be achieved from source to sea. Our Environment training modules are designed to equip attendees with the necessary skills and knowledge to support their environmental focus through the effective use of statistics, data analysis and appropriate models.
