Course overview

Developed and delivered by leading asset management professionals at WRc, this course provide an overview of the theory and practical application of ISO55001:2014 - Asset Management.

This engaging and interactive training will provide you with basic introduction on how an Asset Management System (AMS) operates as specified in the international standard, including insights into AMS policy, procedures, performance measurements, management commitment, internal audit, management review and continual improvement. Upon course completion, learners will be able to:

  • Understand core principles and origins of ISO55001 and the correlation with other standards.
  • Gain a foundational level of understanding of the requirements of ISO55001, including mandated documentation (procedural and procedural evidence).
  • Identify the approaches, methods and techniques used for the implementation, management and certification of an AMS.

    Who can benefit?

    Delegates could include professionals from all sectors that are asset-intensive, including but not limited to: water, environment, transport, construction, energy and public sectors. This encompasses early-career or graduate asset management professionals, as well as AMS support personnel spanning all seniority and job types, such as: strategy and planning, operations, maintenance, HR, communications, assurance, leadership, and management system owners.

    Training outline

    The course is interactive, with a mix of lecture, group discussion, and exercises to facilitate an engaging learner experience. Alternatively, our flexible delivery option via our online leaning platform allows participants to complete modules at their own pace and in their own time. An end-of course knowledge assessment effectively demonstrates knowledge transfer. Modules include:

    • Why ISO55001? Setting the context, and introducing asset management principles, concepts, terms and definitions.
    • Requirements: A step-by-step exploration across each of the 7 core clauses of ISO55001 (Context, Leadership, Planning, Support, Operations, Performance Evaluation and Improvement).
    • Mandated Documentation: A look at the requirements related to the core documentation mandated by ISO55001 for both procedural and procedure compliance.
    • Steps to Implementation: An overview of the practical steps that can be taken to implement an asset management system.
    • Steps for ISO55001 Certification: An introduction to the process for ISO certification and what to expect.
