The Certification is designed to fast-track learners' careers as trusted water risk experts. This comprehensive course provides the skills to assess and communicate water risks, as well as to identify solutions to mitigate these. The course complements theoretical knowledge with real-world examples, and places an emphasis on ensuring that learned knowledge can be implemented immediately.

Jennifer's 15 years' worth of experience as a Water Risk Expert is streamlined into this program which offers 12 pre-recorded training sessions (1.5hrs) as well as monthly live workshops (1.5hrs), Q&As (1.5hrs) and Guest Lectures from Industry Leaders (1.5hrs). To ensure that theory is applied to practice, participants will complete their own real-life water risk assessment throughout the training. It also includes comprehensive resources like workbooks, water risk assessment templates and solution sheets to ensure immediate implementation and proficiency in water risk assessments. Recommended completion is within a 3-6 month period.

On top of CPD Accreditation as Water Risk Experts, participants also receive personalised support including reviews of their assessments, future access to course materials, and entry into a private alumni network.

Sessions 1-4: Water Risk Foundations

  • Understanding water risks holistically, from global to local levels, and their impacts - if left unaddressed - on countries, businesses and investments.
  • Learning about importance of water risks for businesses and investment operations, and how to report these for mandatory (e.g. CSRD) and voluntary (e.g. CDP) disclosures.
  • Using water risk assessment tools to prioritse water risk hotspots for businesses, investments, and project sites, even with limited time or data.

Sessions 5-8: How to confidently apply the Water Risk Assessment Blueprint to complete an in-depth water risk assessment and get meaningful results

  • Assessing water resources risks today and in future, including water stress, water pollution and water-related disasters, even without experience in hydrology and related fields.
  • Assessing water infrastructure risks, including the full urban water cycle from water abstraction to wastewater discharge, even without being an engineer.
  • Assessing water governance risks, including legal and regulatory frameworks, institutional set up and finances, even without experience in political sciences.

Sessions 9-12: How to apply your Water Risk Assessment results to improve decision making and solutions

  • Influencing decision-makers to prioritise water security and use water risk assessments for better decision-making, investment, and project implementation.
  • Leveraging multi-stakeholder engagements and collective action to understand water risks, find collaborative solutions and overcome power dynamics.
  • Identifying impactful and sustainable solutions for underlying drivers of identified water risks.
