To assess the manufacture and installation of Under Pressure Tapping Tees manufactured by UTS Engineering Ltd. for making branch connections to cast iron, ductile iron, steel, PVC, clay and concrete potable and waste water pipes.
It is applicable to connections to pipe diameters of 80 mm - 700 mm nominal bore, operating up to a pressure of 16 bar.
The Under Pressure Tapping Tee consists of a mechanical fitting comprising an axially split steel tube with a side branch tee on one part. The two parts of the split tube joined by bolted linear flange joints on either side. This enables the compression of the cellular elastomeric mat with reinforcement steel between the outer wall of the pipe and the inner wall of the fitting, forming a watertight seal.
The Under Pressure Tapping Tee does not provide end restraint.
