Toxicologists at the National Centre for Environmental Toxicology (NCET) support the water industry through its provision of Toxicology Advisory Services that is available 24 hours 365 days per year. Our expertise in providing toxicological risk assessments is relied upon to provide timely advice to support risk assessment and management efforts when chemical hazards are identified in the water supply system from source waters through to the customers tap. Our services are not limited to the provision of toxicological risk assessments however and include supporting clients by undertaking research to provide relevant information on the sources of chemical hazards identified, the effective drinking water treatment processes for the chemical(s) of interest, legislation and information relating to sewage treatment processes.

An important part of our work is our provision of expert witness services to support clients from the water industry and beyond to help them fulfil their regulatory requirements or risk management efforts that aim to mitigate or consider / quantify the impacts of their activities on human health or the environment that may be associated with the occurrence of chemical exposures that may be related to their activities.

We specialise in assessing the risks associated with exposures to chemicals in different media and thrive on working closely with clients to find solutions to complex problems.
