a tailored interactive course using a mixture of lecture, group discussion, software demonstration, and guided workbook exercises
staff across various teams and knowledge levels to understand different types of clean water meters and when they should be used
attendees are equipped with the confidence to make informed decisions about meters used and effectively manage network processes
Uisce Éireann (Irish Water) engaged WRc Academy to provide training to ensure delegates could accurately recognise different types of water meters, understand how to obtain precise measurements, and appreciate the importance of selecting the correct meter size for various applications. The objective was to enhance the knowledge and skills of delegates across various teams, including the new connections team, operational staff, capital delivery staff, and colleagues from across asset management, ensuring they could make informed decisions and effectively manage water metering processes.
WRc Academy successfully delivered a 1-day training course (tailored from our Introduction to Clean Water Metering Training) that equipped Uisce Éireann delegates with proficiency in meter technology and suitability; installing, commissioning and verifying larger meters; failure modes and defects; MCERTS; and use of their meter right-sizing tool developed by WRc. Training covered both revenue and network meters, demonstrating scenarios where meters had both revenue and network functions (e.g., large customer meters) to colleagues. Throughout the training course, a mixture of interactive lecturing, with questions and answers, group discussions, as well as workbook guided notes and exercises enabled delegates to fully engage in the content to build awareness and confidence.
The training was delivered alongside updating the WRc-developed software tool used by Uisce Éireann to ensure their meters are sized correctly.
The programme delivered the learning objectives to support delegates in understanding the fundamentals and specifics of water meters for awareness and operational purposes, drawing on WRc’s experience from consultancy, expert advice, and training at all levels. In this knowledge transfer programme, WRc helped unlock solutions to the challenges faced by delegates in the use of different meter types and sizes for different scenarios where meters had both revenue and network functions.
The training content and delivery was very well-received by attendees; testimonials can be viewed below.
