        Dr. Fisayo Olotu

        Senior Scientist

        Fisayo is a Senior Scientist within WRc’s National Centre for Environmental Toxicology (NCET), and has a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. He is experienced in microplastic diagnostics and risk assessment, toxicological assessment, in silico toxicology, and molecular modeling, including AI/ML-based approaches (NAMs). He currently leads the development of WRc’s microplastic and toxicology service offerings and manages WRc's microplastic testing laboratory. Also, he supports a wide range of consultancy projects across the company on water and environmental quality, and client-stakeholder engagement across the water and environmental sectors. He previously worked as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership Research Associate and led a partnership project with Queen Mary University of London, which led to the design of WRc’s microplastic testing and risk assessment pipeline, integrating advanced LDIR analysis with human and ecological risk models. He has over a decade of academic and applied research experience in pharmaceutical chemistry and has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers, presented internationally.
